    I was debating to myself on which insect was the biggest pest.So I decided to bring this discussion to digitalpoint because I just couldn't come to a conclusion.

    Mosquitos bite and the bites itch. Much more annoying than a housefly. Now, if you are talking horseflies, my opinion might reverse.

    In Europe, may be the "colorado" beetles, which have no natural enemies here, and eat the potatos, and related plants. In other places, may be the termites, which eat the houses, and other wooden structures. In the suitable climates, may be the numerous insects, which transfer the dangerous diseases.

    Might reverse?

    I've been bitten by those things a number of times. Mosquito bites don't bither me a bot...

    Would that include the fruit fly (or any type gnat)?

    Spent a week in Ceder Key, FL one time.
    I was introducing my grandson to scuba in shallow water. At one point I noticed his back was above water and it was crawling with mosquitos.
    They came in clouds there.

    Good point. "Might" was a bit too soft. "Definitely" would have been more appropriate.
