This is my desktop ... I have lost control of all the folders and now the desktop has lost its way as well ... I have to put everything I want here as I know that if it ends up in another damn folder hidden within all the other folders I will never find it again ... whole operating systems have fallen into the cracks between the lines of code ... I need a hoover ...

Anyone got worse? ... we'll know if its fake...

Please! Do yourself a fovour and get rid of the teletubbies theme bars in XP! :puke:

    Nice res though!

Mines nice and clean. Have an active desktop with a homegrown page with forms for tracking parcels/checking overture/checking google/checking postcodes on streetmap/remote logins/etc. Nothing worth showing.

Desktop @ home is a mess. Whole PC is a mess. Didn't want to clean it so got another hard drive and installed Red Hat. That one is nice and clean (read: empty). Neaver use PC at home no more, live in the office.

I get mad at myself when I have more than 10 icons on my desktop LOL. I couldn't function with that much clutter. But I have the boring blue background on my desktop too.

TOPS30: LOL - Teletubbies? Not heard 'em ref'd to as that before. Can't be bothered to change 'em even though they P me off; they're far too clever for their own good - the old 95/98 icons were less fussy and sharper.

lorien1973: there were just 10 there until Sunday - now there's 60. It's been a busy week already...

Why don't you cut all the shortcuts into a folder, then drag the foler on the task bar. It will give you a pull down type of idea with everything still only 1 click (and a 'hoover-over') away.

Windows XP already has a built in program to clean up unused desktop icons.

Top, give precise instructions on how to do this folder deal.

Why can't you have more than one screen like they used to have with 3.1 in the old days?

That's all the instructions there is to it. Drag a folder on the task bar. With the short cuts in the folder.

Actually; it's pretty good. Usually my icons are off the desktop. I've cleared off a couple of gigs in the last couple of days; the desktop is only 4.27 gigs now.
