The end of Digg?

Digg.com experienced a drop of 35% in traffic in April - the biggest drop in traffic ever for this site. Could this be an indication of the end of Digg?

 

There has been lots of crazy BUZZ about this over the past few days on the Social Sites. There have been some folks predicting that this would happen.

Digg seemed to lose a lot of its pop when it changed its "sharing" option several months ago. People were complaining all over the place about that.

 

Twitter also sees a huge drop off of its membership every month or so. The social sites attract a lot of signups, but the attrition rate is also high.

 

Urm... surprise surprise lol bound to happen

 

Atlast, FB may Rule, Or Local social Networks running in Social engine, PHPfox or something so may also get popular amongst the area AM planning for one, and looking for sponsors

 

what is the reason for this drop off?

 

What cause the traffic down ? Any body know ?

 

There is a lot of speculation. Many say it is due to recent changes. Others saying it is the way in which articles get to the front page. I dont know. All just speculation. But the drop in one month is worrying!

 

One of the reasons I see is their annoying sponsor link. It gave a bad user experience. Also, digg is no more a lucrative place for webmasters who were willing to get backlinks. Obviously digg was destined to doom.

 

facebook just beat out google in traffic so who knows....

 

I don't think Digg is anywhere near as useful as it used to be. Nothing has been updated or added to Digg for years, despite what they've been promising. As well, it seens to be too easy for power users to heavily manipulate what becomes popular and what doesn't, regardless of the submission.

Digg might make a comeback, but it's going to take some time. Dead? Probably not, wounded? Definitely.

 

i would think Digg will end up as i see some error in the front page of it and sometime i cant even log into the account. It seem works very bad now.

 

I have noticed traffic from Digg has dropped WAY down for my sites I hope it recovers soon!

 

Yes, many people are facing the same problem but it doesnt make digg going to end, they are still one of the best social bookmark

 

I think they will definitely have to adapt to maintain a decent amount of traffic.

 

as i know many many social networking sites are coming up with superb features and they are attracting too....so this drop will be obvious i guess.

 

I believe its because people aren't finding their service that useful from what news is displaying on the front page.

 

Digg will go on forever dont worry - Everyone business has its peak times and low times, so just watch them rise

 

It's become old and is really only beneficial to a few select webmasters. Because of this the articles presented to the reader are mostly the same and not really unique.

 

facebook and forums are basically taking over, people got sick of digg. I did, the amount of faggots on the social side of digg is amazing.
