the first step to social network marketing?

I am a newbie in social network marketing. Any one please help me to define sicail network marketing. Then what to do to start marketing on social networs?

Social Network marketing is the process of promoting your website, product, services or even yourself through social networks like facebook, twitter etc.

As you are new bee in social networking than i would like to advise to following following steps :

1. Create your full profile be it academic,professional or just about yourself. Always remember that more you tell about your self the more people will be comfortable with you.
2. Use your original pic in profile as it gives a sense of reliability among people visiting your profile.
3. Dont start promoting your product or service since from the begining.
4. Be friends with people and try to help them in case they need any kind of advice.
5. Be as genuine as your can.
6. Share interesting and hillarious updates or images.
7. Dont share too much links as it can be counted as spams and no body likes to see there pages filled with spam links.

Once you have reached a certain point you can than start promotion.

Be patient. It takes time to build a solid brand on Social Media.

Use the big sites like:
Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, Delicious, Digg, Reddit, DesignBump etc. then link all of them together

 

Just take small steps every day and build your community. It is hard work, just like any other business idea.

Social networking can be a tough play in beginning but slowly result starts coming... It's kind of image building process, first you need to gain the trust of your follow, be informative don't just start promoting your product, it takes time so be patient.
- Create a profile, make it somewhat attractive to your targeting audience.
- Provide full detail about you and your company, such as your name, designation, location, what services or product you provide and so on...
- Solve there problems and provide informative facts, try to keep them engage by using polls, contest, question them and many other things you can do to make things happening

Well, online Social network is same as our offline social network.. yes really no difference but only difference is that your access is to whole world. Having said that.. SNM is same as marketing offline like we see in our daily lives.

Now, what we do those marketers who just drop a letter in our postal box or make a random call? Hmm, yes we don't take them seriously same is the case with online SNM if you'll advertise your product (or whatever) without having good reputation you will be treated without any importance.
