The power of Google... why you shouldn't try to impersonate a 3 Star General

You may just get owned by a Google Image search

http://www.conflictingviews.com/273-john-p.html This is the original thread. Check it out for all the happenings

This guy joined my forums March 1st and tried to tell us he was a 3 star general. He has horrible grammar skills and his Ip address shows him posting in South Dakota not the D.C. area he claims to be in.

So we played along to see how far he would take it.

Well last night he got a picture and put it as an avatar. I first went to marines.mil and looked through the Biography pages there and found nothing similar. Then a buddy did a Google image search and came up with this:

    http://images.google.com/images?q=m...US:official&percentage_served=100&sa=N&tab=wi

    Which led me to this:

After I confronted him I get this pm:

    How stupid are people?

Based on the kid's writing, I'd say the real General has hair on his butt older than the kid impersonating him!

    Nice work!

sometimes ppl want to make themselves seem more important than they really are. The anoniminity (spelling off :p) of the internet is a great medium to soothe their insecurities by allowing them to pretend to be someone they see as 'cooler' than them. I doubt he expected that someone could figure out the truth so quickly and easily, heh heh

I went thru that thread. And i am 99.99% sure that this pretending general is not a 14 year old kid. 14 yrs old dont have such vast military knowledge. When he saw he was busted big time he again pretended to be a 14 year old to escape from the bashing he would recieve.

What is your username on that forum BamaStangGuy?

I kind of agree with you and I have looked into that. Either way he is gone now. It is possible he is a kid though.
