The right CMS for a Catalog website

Discussion in 'Content Management' started by sharkyx, Feb 14, 2010.

A client of mine wants me to build him a website that will mainly act like a catalog for his products. The products are in the electric niche and are scattered across a dozen categories, with different specs for each category.

I cant build it as a e-commerce store because the client doesn't want to sell anything via an online form. The customers will check out the catalog and contact the store, after which the store will return with a price (the client has different pricings for each order). What I'm asking is what CMS should I use for this type of project? Should I just use Magento or some other form of e-commerce platform and go through tedious customizations or just stick to Wordpress with some neat plugins? thanks in advance guys. You're the best!

would you need reviews on there too? if so, check out the jreviews component for joomla.

If you want to see what it looks like, check out the site in my signature. (navigate to tab 'social networking scripts)

I'll let you know if I find them.

EDIT: This theme would work nicely for you.
