Hi, i want to register a domain name with the word "hot" in it for eg . www.hotblalblah.com. I heard somewhere that google has issues with such words being used in the domain name which is why you don't see many sites with the word "hot" in its domain name.

Is this true? Please help someone.

I don't know...but i remember reading it somewhere. I searched the internet about it ...but there is no information. Also, i tried searching the word "hot" on google...but none of the domain names that popped up had "hot" in them. And every domain i searched for with the word "hot" is easily available....with the .com, .net and .org extensions.

Then we also wouldn't have hotmail hehe.

But maybe could be something on it cause hot 1st suggestion would be with some adult related content.

Possibly because the keyword doesn't carry significant value? I don't know what kind of keyword did you search but when I search for hotgirl or hotcar, the domains are not available. If it's true, they probably sue Hotmail by now.

Er... most of the results have "hot" in them.

On the first page of results:

    hotmail.com
    hotornot.com
    hottopic.com
    hotwheels.com

You should find out whoever told you such crap and not listen to them anymore about anything.

    Don't forget hotfile.com...

nothing wrong with the word "hot"

Just because you don't see a word often doesn't mean it is prohibited. It's simply not that popular.

To the 2 guys above, you can't take sites that have been created years ago and they cannot be taken out of google, however it's quite true that the new google algorythm, the words hot and best are downgraded due to fact that their content doesn't mean they are actually hot or best and so, a lot of work has to be done in SEO before they actually get the points they deserve

It's true that 'hot' names is sometimes related to adult or else, but you must not heard from the others and start your first plan and build 'em with that hot domain

Trying to keep up with domain trends can be complicated and tiring, but well worth the trouble. Especially if you are trying to flip a few domains or auction off any old domains you don't use anymore.

I have found that one of the best ways to keep up with domain naming trends, is to keep an eye on the auctions, as well as an eye on domain names that are expired or soon to be expired. Doing this can help you can important insight about whats HOT and what's NOT.
