Hmmmm certainly makes you wonder if they have any control over whats going on with thier new system.

 

That isn't being given as general advice but rather as advice on strategies for consolidating PR to www.domain.com instead of splitting it with domain.com:

This is to avoid a long running problem in Google.

 

She's talking about 301 redirects, though. Isn't that 302 problem supposed to have been fixed? I'm beginning to wonder if a 301 redirect isn't part of my problem.

Using a 301 redirect is only mentioned in the first paragraph.
If you do a 301 redirect from www to non-www, why do you need to link absolutely?

Seems there have been a few replies since.
You might check server headers on a few pages, it never hurts.

Do you still have, and have you been getting any Google alerts for link: queries? Particularly if you know you should be?

 

I’ve noticed a few new sites that don’t connect to their main domain name at all, even from their index page. Many are now redirecting from the start of the domain to a purposely-created sub domain. (Example – xyz.com will redirect to my.xyz.com or some other type of sub-domain). If you really take the time to think about this it does make sense in the long run with Google and everyone else that is having trouble figuring out that www.xyz.com and xyz.com are the same darn thing. I’m not planning on buying any new domains in the near future, but if I was I'm thinking that staring them with a sub-domain other than www might make sense. In other words, nothing would ever point to www.xyz.com or xyz.com from the very beginning.
