I came across a website that provides real life virtual hunting of animals.
    www[dot]live-shot[dot]com
I find it real sick as anyone with an Internet access will be allowed to virtually fire a loaded gun and kill animals. What more, the site has a number of species of sheeps and hogs for your preference.

This is plain sick and I'm deeply troubled... What if your childrens finds this site?

How is this different from going to a shooting range or going hunting? Kids can go there..... At least with this you don't risk accidentialy shooting yourself.

I'm not a fan of hunting to begin with, but my hubby's family does it as a way to have meat in the winter. Kids all grew up learning to shoot and learning target practice. I guess I just don't see the difference between that and the internet site.

I'm not a hunter nor will I ever be. I like animals and find plenty of meat at the local grocery store. I don't fault hunters who sit in a tree all day with doe and fox urine sprinkled on them taking down a buck, keeping the rack and packing the meat in a large freezer out on the porch....but this is the ultimate in lazy and it's nothing but a Internet animal cruelty service for fat, lethargic hillbilliies who couldn't pry themselves from that thar intronet ever since they found the free porn.

Anyone who gets a kick from using this obviously has the mentality of an 8-10 year old kid. I'd shut the site down if I had my way.

    Just my $0.02 :)

The purprose doesn't have to be for getting a kick, it can simply be for a form of target practice. I'd rather they do this then go randomly shooting at birds and squirrles for practice.

What target practice? They are offering live animals so that anyone with the money can kill them? For what? Money, of course...
This is a remote controlled gun that allows anyone to kill something with a click of the mouse. I think, it's immoral and downright wrong...

Yes but this is like a video game for computer geeks that would never step out of their bedroom anyway.

In the south (south of Alabama in the Florida panhandle) I know Rednecks that would never do such a thing because they love to go out in the woods and hunt because they really love sitting in a tree stand and getting their Deer Meat the old fashioned way.

Most use rifles but bow hunters are the "real, real thing".

Hey guys, got a credit card, you can go hunting right now on your computer screen

High technology is great, is it not

What's the difference? Well for one, the animal is not killed for food. The animal is just killed for so called "sport". Except that there is no "sport" in this at all. You might as well shoot fish in a barrel.

At a shooting range, your shooting at paper or some other inanimate target. Hunting, you're actually going into the woods and "hunting". (look it up if you don't know the meaning)

Just by asking such a stupid question, it shows how little you 'get it'.

How is it different from video games kids play or remote control war where cameras are used to kill folks with laser guided missiles

Hunting for food is moral, but is killing men with cameras and satellite's?

PS: Mopacfan, please don't call Wendy stupid because she is not, OK

Sorry, but that kind of ignorance makes my blood boil.
Obviously you don't get it either Anthony. It's different because the 'shooter' is ACTUALLY KILLING AN ANIMAL for no reason other than the fact that it can be done. It's not a video game, it's video being used to kill a living creature. Hell, I know, let's put up a video camera in times square with a 30-06 and charge to shoot folks walking down the street. Better yet, let's put up a webcam with an M-60 so we can increase the carnage.

So then it is not the concept that is wrong in your mind but that real animals are hunted, would it be a better concept if the animals were simulated like in a video game

Of course it would be better if they were simulated...

Guys (Rob, Mopac), don't get drawn into this debate... It's just stupid...

Just looking for an argument of some description...
Leave him to argue alone :)

Dude, that would be so fun!!! We you be visiting times square during the grand opening of the new game???

    LOL, J/K of course.

The website doesn't bother me any, target practice and you get to keep the target if you pay more to have it mailed to you. Lame, since it still isn't real. You will still have no idea how the gun reacts while you are shooting it with it in your hands versus a mouse. Now if you pay the big bucks you get to go 'virtual hunting' which is just stupid........ but if you do go 'virtual hunting' send me some of the meat, yum..

    Wait, you're right!

Real animals and CGI animals are the same thing....OBVIOUSLY! And to think I killed thousands of ducks in Nintendo "Duck Hunt".

    I'm going to hell!

Did I say that? I don't recall having expressed that thought. I have no problem whatsoever with real hunters that "hunt" and take the animal with them after they kill it to make use of the meat, the hide and such. Don't put words in my mouth.

We already do that, but the government was too stupid to pull the trigger when they had Bin Laden in the eye of the camera when the remote control drone flew over the camp

SE: the concept of a forum is debate and presenting views, maybe one day you will grasp this novel concept  :)
