Three adsense blocks on one page - any disadvantages?

    Hi,

I've being setting up sites since just before Christmas, so I am pretty new to the content websites/adsense revenue game. In the last month I have been getting some income (mostly leaky taps: 1-2% CTRs, but there is one with 7% -but unsure as to why). I am now at the stage of analysing the figures and testing to see what works and why and how I can improve my CTRs.

I suggested to the friend that got me into the whole adsense thing that I was going to put three blocks of ads on each page. He said that this was a bad idea since it lowers your cost per click, i.e., you will get less money if someone clicks on one of three blocks of ads than if someone clicks on one of only two blocks of ads. My friend also suggested that there were a load of other disadvantages, but did not go into details.

So, feel free to let me have your opinion. Is putting three blocks on one page a disadvantage? If so why?

Similarly, what about three blocks and a link unit?

Thanks, look forward to hearing any comments.

    Stephen

nope... you can get more clicks but some of them may not pay as much.

Thanks for your comment. So do you think that the your share of the cpc may fall but it will be ofset by a greater increase in total revenue due to more clicks?
