Tips for my vintage Mall photoblog

I've had this vintage mall blog, Malls of America, going for a year now. It was started soley as something I was simply interested in myself and it took me a while to eventually add the adsense to it. Now I'm definitely not an adsense "pro", and haven't really been all that aggressive with the ads in the past, really, but a few months ago decided to try to up the revenue if I could, from the 5-600 (sometimes more) average daily hits I get there (I have other blogs as well, and am trying to create a cumulative adsense effect). Not getting rich, unfortunately, (hardly), but I'm trying to make a few bucks a day if I can, and I'd certainly love to make more! Not sure I even can with the niche-y sites I operate, but I'd at least like to try to monetize them as fully as I can. :)

Anyway, been adding more units on all my blogs just lately, since I only had one vertical text unit on each (and they were all way below the fold and last in my sidebars) up until a month or so ago, and would like any opinions on how to do better on the mall one here (I'll get to my other sites later). I'd appreciate any tips, and like to know how you guys would work this blog! Didn't design it originally to make money off it, so I'm still trying to figure out how best to do it--without alienating my longtime readers and getting too in their face with ads and stuff. Since I originally started it simply for fun and art's sake. Duh!

So on this blog, how's the placement, blending, and all? I am also aware that I can still add additional text ad units but haven't yet figured out where to put them if I do, yet still keep the blog tasteful in appearance. Tips there?

As for referral units...yeaaah, I could add 'em, but to be honest, they've been on some of my other blogs for a while now and do NOTHING. Ever. High profile placement on those, too, and still just a click or two at most. I'm hesitant to sully the mall blog further with clutter like that, unless I'm confident it will really pay off. And so far I don't see much of a point with the referral buttons to be honest.

    Thanks!
    Keith
