    1) No patience, they expect quick results. However it takes a couple of weeks to build your user base and get some real results.

    2) Too excited. Many people launch their product as soon as they get the basic functionality done without any bug testing .

    3) Bad design. Face it, in the world of web 2.0 a nice design is very important.

    4) Cheap pockets. Most people try to get free hosting until their start up gets off the ground, however there are many problems including a nonprofessional subdomain.

    5) Crappy idea/implementation. Only the good ideas succeed, but they are hard to come up with. :)

Basically all of what 'kkrizka' said. I see alot of web sites that have alot of potential with great content, but they really need to get a artist. Colorful designs attracts the users with 3-second attention spans :)

    1. Unrealistic expectations - they expect to get rich quick, get rich overnight, get rich like magic, etc.

    2. Poor content - but they don't have the dedication to put in the work to make their site successful. They have the mentality of "if I build it, they will come", not realizing that getting traffic is a constant battle.

    3. Poor planning - they don't properly record their progress and so, have no way of measuring how successful their keywords or their SEO efforts are.

    4. Lack of dedication - they give up after a couple weeks because the big bucks haven't started rolling in yet.

    5. They answer to another mistress - monetizing your website must be your passion, your lover, your life. You must spend more time on DP than you do with your GF, your kids, your other job! :D

1 Lack of Marketing and Self Promotion
For customers to find you you need to be seen on the internet. Just having a website doesn't guarantee you'll have visitors.

    2 Customer Support
You need to respond to your customers within 24 hours or less. No or poor customer support = no business.

    3 Poor website upkeep
Having broken links / broken images doesn't give your website a good image.

4 Expecting to get rich quick
Starting a business takes time and effort.

5 Quiting your Real Job to devote all your energy to your website
If your web business fails your life can fall apart.
Start your business out as a hobby, when you start making real money then you may want to devote more time to your online business.

    6 Have a business plan
Starting a business with the idea that I have something to sell and that's all thats needed can get you into big trouble.
    Small Business Administration

7 Keyword stuffing and other deceptive techniques
When you get banned by search engines you can almost forget about customers finding you.

    8 Server uptime
If your website is down more that up and running, customers will move on.

9 Starting another cookie cutter website business
Your website should be unique, otherwise you'll need better customer support, prices etc just to stay competitive.

10 Start a business you don't have a passion for
Loosing interest in your business will surely spell disaster.
