Top Site List, Do they make good money?

I'm thinking of creating a top site network, where site votes and get ranked to the top of the list. Reason why is that I think it get easy traffic coming in if I get them to leave voting buttons back to my site. what do you think?

 

Depends on the amount of quality traffic in my opinion. If you have little or know traffic these lists could show up your site. You may be better to do link exchanges with similar themed sites, I wouldnt think you'd make a lot but hey I dont know the site, your traffic and please prove me wrong

 

You could probably make good money with CPM banners, taking advantage of the impressions, but I'm not so sure about Adsense...

I run a topsite to complement one of my other sites and it doesn't earn that much nor does it seem to get quality clicks and the CTR is pretty terrible - I find writting articles relating to the topic of my sites much much more profitable and produces a much better CTR, and you dont have much control over the ads that are displayed on your site because so much infomation is entered by the site owners in a bid to promote themselves so you can't really target niche markets...

 

Well it won't make money with Adsense, and that's only because, as with humor sites and Bittorrent sites, people come there for a specific reason, and it's not to click on your ads. Unless you bring in a massive number, the CTR will be abysmal I'm afraid.

Hey, we were all newbies once.

 

Yes we all had that feeling at one time or another, but like I said in that PM get out there find a nice little niche, make some good quality content, implement some adsense in a fairly optimised way (there is more than enough info around here to get a good idea on what works well) and then get out there and promote your site - wash, rinse, repeat. Too many people are looking for that "quick" dollar and whilst there are probably a few quick dollars out there they aren't long term and I personally have the feeling that adsense is, so buckling down and getting stuck in and going for the long haul is the attitude to be taking to this new industry. I have personally found that my earnings are growing every month and even if they only grow at 10-20% every month 6 - 12 months time you have doubled and tripled your original earnings.

No matter how much I learn, the next day there is more to learn.

But most free sites have a hard row to hoe to get income.
Best to hold off accepting advertising until you can show good daily traffic and good usage of your site.
Adsense, adsense, adsense....
So many people want adsense on their site, want a site for adsense, and whatever adsense.
Get good affiliate programs that will complement your top site.

 

I get <$15 with one of my topsites and I set up affiliate links for advertisements: text links with descriptions. Works well for me!

 

people can cheat on those top site, and if you can get so much traffic, you would rather do something else. more direct to get some sale or ads commision.
