    First of all, you befriend all of the 100 top users. Some (10 or so) will friend you back. For others, comment on their blogs, drop them a few emails, perhaps chat with them on IM. Some them will friend you when they know. Ask for friends.

    Submit breaking news. If you can do it before anyone else, you'll be in the spotlight. It's hard, but you can do it after a few tries.

    Make funny comments. You will be dugg up and possibly befriended.

    Once you are in the friendlist of thirty or so members of the Top 100 --- you're in the club. Your stories may or may not hit the frontpage --- but they'll get high Digg boost.
