    Hey,

How do you save a transparent GIF image?
When I save my images in Photoshop as gif I get a white outline around the image.

    Example: (Green Icon)

I too would like to know how to solve this. This has happened to me quite a bit already, and I've only been using Photoshop for about a week! Surely someone will help us out!

when your creating the image you get a dithering effect along the outside edge. Its caused by antialiasing. If you turn that off you will get more jagged edges but you wont have the dithering effect.

When you export for web there is an option "matte", there you can choose the colour you wish to show in that white place.

I've seen that too, but what if the image is an icon that changes between black and white backgrounds all the time? Is there a way to make it look good on both?

then its better if you save it as PNG. It works good for transparency.

it's been said, but either use a matte color the same as your background, or save it as a png, I much prefer pngs, they tend to look way better on screen

    hello!

you may also want to try putting the outline of the green image on the inside of the image to lessen the pixelation, an easy one is within the blending options / stroke / set it to 'inside'.

    just an idea.

... The very best way especially for small images or icons.. I suggest it's better to use .png images..

    I don't want png. I need GIF

There has to be a way.

The image does not have the white outline before I save it as gif.

If I add a stoke the white outline will still be there.

Thanks for the help everyone! :)

For GIF: The only way is to turn off anti-aliasing for the outer edge of your image. It may not look as smooth, but will get rid of the white edge.
