    Dear friends,

I’m trying to buy a website relevant to my business, which I have recently started. But there are so many sellers selling similar websites that its really confusing to decide which one to buy. :( Can anyone tell me based on what factors should I decide to buy?

    Thank You!!

May be better to go with a domain and web site based on a unique or 'catchy' name, then try 'branding' your site (through advertising) to stand out through the competition.
The alternative is to go with a site name that has the 'keywords' you think your site will be found by, but it may not be very memorable for your customers.

If you give us some more information then we'll be able to figure out what you mean. Are you asking about buying sites making from adsense? Affiliate websites or buying a new domain and then building a site around that?

    Friends,

Thanks for all the responses. I'm trying to setup a site to promote by wife's boutique.
We are also planning to add a forum and a blog to it. I have done some research but still don't have a clear picture.
I'm all confused...should I build the website from scratch? Or should I buy and modify it?
If I decide to buy, what factors should I consider?

I hope this info helps...let me know if you want any more details.

    Thank You!!

If I were you I would build it from scratch . Just hire a web designer and let him make the website to you this way you save more money

What you want is a wordpress blog, optimised for seo.

Then you also want a facebook fan page and a twitter account.

Lastly you want to be capturing all your visitors email addresses using Aweber.

Give them something like "10% off you 1st order - Enter Your Email For limited time voucher"

The aim is to get your potential customers into your email list so you can build up a relationship with them. Also you want to encourage interaction through the social networks.

These days it's all about your relationship with your customer.

Your site is merely a tool to help you communicate with them.

It makes it easy to send a promotional message to them whenever you need to kick start some sales.

But don't just try to sell. Engage with them more often than you try to sell them.

    Hope some of that helps.

This is just a suggestion, maybe one factor in making a decision for a business is you have to make sure whatever decision you made must be comes from the heart.

Thanks much for all your suggestions guys...I finally decided to buy one site.
The design and the content are great. It has a catchy domain name along with real good keywords too.
Now I'll have to modify it according to my business.

But my major concern now is the traffic...how do I attract traffic? Any inputs?
Also, I'm trying to create a logo. Photoshop seems to be expensive. I'm planning to use GIMP.
Are there any other inexpensive tools to create logos?

    Thanks again!

for a logo i would just buy one from the BST section will be cheaper then buying a art platform open a contest then pick the logo your wife likes best. For traffic if it was me i would use adwords and buy the traffic you can even geo target it so the traffic only comes from your area what might increase customers walking into your shop. If you want to rank for SE traffic then use long keywords as short term keywords in the shopping niche are hard to rank for.

That's a great question, some great feedback, and its really endless..

Certainly "Due diligence" for starters... What are your expectations from this site, for your wifes biz. Consult with a professional who can also evaluate or help select the right site, and verify all is in order, such as the PR/current links, not to be lost after transfer, etc.

Lots of detail goes into this...really sounds like you need someone to help walk through the steps...(peace of mind if you are uncertain-get help)

    Hope this helps...!
