As you know Tumblr launched their ads and now you can monetize your blog with Tumblr ads. So any ideas and expectations how much is it possible to earn with that ads? How much followers you need and etc. Who has some experience to share what to do? :)

Their adz won't be so profitable, as far as I think. Since, it's the same google adsense, Chitika, and infolinks. It would be extremely difficult. Since, no matter which monetization method you're using, in the end, you'll need traffic. The more traffic you'll send to your blog, the more it would be easier to earn money.

In addition, if you want open more floodgates of wealth, don't forget those affiliate platforms which you can use. Since, they can help you in earning more than those adz. But, again, it all comes down to traffic. You need to know and learn how to drive traffic to your account and turn them into your followers.

Guys, my 2 cents here... for monetization you have a few options... different types of programs: CPM based (adsense), lead gen (lead gen affiliate networks), CPA networks and also native stuff. The native solutions are pretty good with Tumblr type content, I would have a look at: Taboola (looks like digitalpoint use them themselves as a nested unit in some comments), Baseify.com and rewardstyle.com.

One of the largest problems Tumblr have (I had some bizdev calls with them in the past), is that because they are so image centric, it's hard for advertisers to provide contextual ads for them... I think they work with a company called Curalate which allows users to tag products atop of images - maybe that would also be helpful?
