Wordpress! Without a doubt. Even for the advanced user, Wordpress is extremely flexible.

I am offering a very helpful service if you're interested. Check it out: duanecilliers.com/wordpress-installation/
You'll have to copy and paste, I haven't been a member for more then 7 days yet. Sorry

Besides being very flexible, there is a massive community behind Wordpress that make the experience pleasant.

Considering I have never seen a Tumblr page ever appear in a SERP, I'd go with Wordpress.

I wonder how many people have ever used Tumblr? Doesn't have the user community and plug in support of WordPress.

WordPress is an extremely user friendly blogging platform, customizing is easy there are literally thousands of completely unique themes out there. WordPress has a seemingly endless supply of plugins that can be downloaded, installed and utilized for absolutely free. In addition, definitely WordPress is the best for it is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability.

It is easy to maintain and update. Plus, if you are knowledgeable with PHP and HTML, then you can customize your sites’ appearance by editing the index.php and other theme files. You can change and select from a lot of wordpress themes as well.

WordPress is equally at no cost and priceless at the same time.

Of course, if you choose, it is better to WordPress. This is a very popular engine. But it has drawbacks. For example, it takes a lot of resources at the server. You can install some plugins to avoid this.

There is another option. If you need only the basic functions of your blog (posts, comments, tags), you can put Rumba XML. This engine is very similar to WordPress, but it works on flat files. Its database - a file XML. So you can import data from WordPress. (If you are working with WP).

I actually use both. I love tumblr, it easy but it has very few features which for some sites is fine. If you want to be able to expand your site in the future with various plugins go with WordPress.
