    I want to slowly start increasing this amount. I am not looking to spend a month earning $50 surplus dollars, any ideas?

    you mean you want to earn $50 but not spending $50 or more?

    It depends on how and what you want to use it on.
    In forex, $100 can turn into $1k but of course, nothing is guaranteed, you can lose it altogether as well.
    In freebies/offers trading, you can turn $200 to $800 or more, just that it will take some time.
    In PPC marketing, with cpa, you can turn $200 to $500 or more easily but of course it depends on how well you write your ads and landing page.

    there are plenty more but ultimately you have to choose what you are comfortable with

    Buy a Gun, rob a gas station and you'll end up with $250 and a gun :p not really but perhaps make invest in some good domains or a website from flippa.com.

    There is no need of investing $50 for earning $250, just find any good affiliate program and start it's mass promotion. I am sure you will succeed.

    Check craigslist for people selling stuff for less than it's worth. Then find someone to buy it for what it's worth.
