Unbanned, Baby!! Yeah!!

Just discovered earlier today that my site has been unbanned!!

Thanks, Google, now I'll go back to saying nothing but good things about you.

Congrats for that, but do you know the reason why you where banned in the first place, and care to share that with us.

 

Yes, what did you do, if anything, to help in getting unbanned? Do you know the cause? I am still banned. As far as I know, I didn't do anything wrong...so, will be interesting to hear from you.

 

Same one of my sites was banned and i'm unsure as to why, I thought I was doing everything properly on the domain. If you could let us know the reason and the resolution to your ban it would help us greatly.

That's great news! But I'm also curious about a) why you got banned and b) what you did to get unbanned.

If I remember well, he had no idea why he was banned.

 

Hey, guys, sorry for the lateness. I opened the thread in the Google forum and it was moved here and it didn't occur to me until now, heh heh.

Anyways, I was banned for having duplicate content, although this is wrong -- another site was cacheing my pages, and somehow he got pegged as the original site, and I the duplicate site. I explained this in great depth to Google, thus the unbanned.

To get unbanned, use their contact form on their site (emailing doesn't work; you just get a form letter telling you to use the contact form on their site, so do that and save yourself a week of lost time).

And it's very important that you EXPLAIN IN GREAT DEPTH why you think you were banned, and why you shouldn't have been banned, with evidence, etc. And if you WERE banned legitimately (i.e. it was your fault) explain what you did to correct it.

The trick is this: If you get a personalized email back (i.e. they actually use your name) and tell you they're "sending your letter to the engineers" then great -- you're in! They've sent your claim over to be checked out.

From all that I've read, it usually takes anywhere from a month to two, or sometimes faster. In my case, it took about two weeks. Why did my case seem to be corrected faster? I believe it's because I explained it in great depth, and they easily checked it out, found out I was right, and re-instated me.
