URGENT! advice on ad placement

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by InfinityGuy, Apr 1, 2006.

A page from my site has become high trafic, this wave of trafic is coming to my site as we speak, the problem is that the CTR for that individual page is very very low (according to adsense report page) it gets about 1 click for every 1000 visitors, that`s realy lame and i feel i`m missing out.
I tryed different placements (square text ads between the pictures with colors that blend also didn`t work) but it didn`t help, i never put ads on a page with pictures, only on flash pages where i get a CTR around 2% (usualy a bit higher).

If someone would like to help me to increase CTR on the page by re place the ads, I would be greatfull. I hope the page will be still popular until i manage to find the best solution for ad placment.

    this is the page: http://sickflash.com/food_art.html

    thanks

    (ALL suggestions are wellcome)

Do you think i should put a square at the right of the first image? or should i put an image ad there?

    thanks again for helping guys

Make a table and put pictures in it. Then have skyscraper ads running down the right side of the pictures (spanning more than one).

    Good luck

This is what i did: I removed the top Leaderboard and the SkyScraper and I started new by adding a small blended link unit (black & red) to the top right, a blended square (red and orange) to the right center of the first picture. and another rectangle at the end of the pictures (to the left).

I`ll keep you posted if CTR changes after the modifications.

Any sugestions on placement or color mods/tweaking are more than wellcome.

It doesn't matter what you do. People go there to look at "sick food" and they're not going to click on any ads for "Food gift basket" or "tuscan treasure deluxe". Some sites engender more clicks than others; yours fall into the "others" category. I would suggest adding more text to tighten the ads being delivered, or using CPM banners to capitalize on the impressions.

As I said, he came there for what he came there for -- pictures of "sick food". I sincerely doubt there are ads for "sick food" in Adwords. :) So, as I said, either concentrate more on general topics (such as "avante garde art", etc, something within your site's niche) or go for CPM.

As long as adbrite's ads arent set to contextual mode, then he's fine.

Adbrite is not contextual. Its like selling backlinks. You also get paid per month/day/week by default so it should be allright.

10x :) , so only contextual links are not allowed (now i see difference between contextual and "backlinks")

i first tought that all "TEXT LINKS" from other companies were not allowed .

Contextual advertising is like adsense. They spider your page and feed related ads. You can still sell links/banner space etc Adbright just helps you find advertisers as well as a bit of tracking. Unless you switch modes...
