There's no special TLD for the US, it's just .com

As far as I know there isn't any specific extension in domain names for Americans/America. It's just .com/etc. The addition of country-specific extensions seem to be a way to extend domain name availability.

When I type www.google.com into my browser it ends up at www.google.com - there is no change in the url information. Google is based in the USA so there is no alternate redirect for people in the US like there are for other countries, it just stays www.google.com.

It depends, if u log have logged on as google.com in india it is redirected to google.co.in , if u have logged on to google.co.in before and same goes for other countries like china. but if u have only logged on as google.com it is redirected to google.co.us!

You should have a link at bottom of the page titled "Google.com in English" or "Go to Google.com", this will change your cookie and redirect you to Google.com which is the American site.

Yes, that geo-targeting technique used by Google is annoying

Most of us need to have google.com due to diverse factors, not our country's version nor a language other than English

Instead of play "the country-guesser" Google should allow people select based on their own preferences or needs.

Once you choose the Google.com in english it will stay that way until you delete the cookie.
