Use 1 2 or 3 Ad Adsense Ads per page?

Question. Do you get a lower cost per click if you have say 3 google ads per page?

Is it better just to have one or two as this would raise (possibly) your Page CTR% ratio. I do not have alot of traffic comming in, my higest per day is $2.00 lol

    Thanks

If I put less ads, my CTR will drop. *shrug*

But your cost per click might go up. I have read some say you do better with fewer ads per page.

I do not know. Just reporting what I have read. I truly think something like that is hard to access.

is that true? I use 3 ads in all my sites I got litle bit high ctr but not very high income.

What is the reason why single ad is higher than 3 ads per page?

Most of the time, I just put one ads unit each page. But make sure you put it at the most strategic place or your CTR will drop.

Your earnings depend entirely on competitiveness of your keywords.

I was under the impression that by limiting the ads to one (1) per page this would result in only the highest paying ads being displayed. Is that not true?

I'd be interested in the answer to this as well as I've always been using 3 ads when possible on each page

I think we need to rephrase it.

"Less ads BUT at most strategic ad position will increase your revenue."

i found that more than 80% clicks were from position above the fold. thus i just place 1 ad unit and 1 ad link on there. if more ads, my page will be crowded with ads :)

First put all three ad units and use channels to determine which ones are the best performers.

If two are performing good and the third get a low CTR, eliminate it.

...moving from 2 and 3 ad blocks per page to one increased cpc and earnings dramatically....

imagine this..... your keyword is "cheese".... there are 15 companies paying for ppc ads for this word.....

if you have 15 ads on the page (say in 3 ad blocks), there is the chance that someone will click the ad where a company is only paying $0.05, whereas if you have only one ad block, you can be sure that it will be the top 4/5 ppc payers (maybe paying ~$1 ?).

makes sense to me that if you have ads for people not paying that much as well as the high payers, that they will sometimes get clicked, earning you less money.

I think the only way you can determine this is by testing it yourself.

As for the previous "cheese" example, what happens if AdSense decides to display the 5 lowest paying ads? Well, then if you get a click, it will be from a low paying ad for that keyword. On the other hand, if you have 3 ad blocks with 5 ads each, you'll have 15 ads (all of the ads for cheese) and that gives you a chance at the highest paying ad.

I'm not saying that's how things work. I'm just saying it could happen that way b/c I don't know how AdSense does things. I would just use channels for all 3 blocks, determine which one has the highest CTR and then you can try deleting all ads but that one and see if your CPC and earnings goes up.

Going from 3-2 ads my total revenue went up by 30 %

    Less is better.

So if I have 2 ad units on a page, won't the highest paying ads be served on the unit which Google encounters first while parsing the page ?

    Or is it random ?

Because they need to show the lower bid ads eventually. They will show them less often, but they still show them. The ads are weighted based on bid amount.

Many people do think that the higher paying ads are shown first. I believe it is more random for multiple ad units, but higher paying ads are shown first within ad units.

I agree. 1-2 ads is ideal. Depending on how long the page is.
