Using an escrow service to buy domains???

    I am buying a domain for a fair bit of money and need to use an escrow service. I don't know too much about it. So what do i need to know?

    Seller is in US and I'm in Canada. Some ecrow sites, like Escrow.com, do not handle paperwork, or be a thrird party that does the domain transfer.

    What are the risks when the domain transfer is handled by the buyer and seller themselves?

    GreatDomains.com offers a service that will handle everything, the paperwork, the transfer, etc. but will cost $1000. crazy

    Vs. using Escrow.com for under $200, or Afternic.com for about $300. Afternic will create paperwork (purchase and sale docs)

    From what i can tell, using escrow.com should be fine. But having docs from Afternic would be nice.

    Domain is currently registered at Register.com and domain tranfers are free from one account holder to another.
