Using More than One Domain

    Hi all,

new here and wanted some advice for a site I'm planning.

The first site will have a catchy, cool name that people will be able to remember, but is not very keyword friendly.

So, I wanted to buy other domains, build keyword-rich, domain-specific indexes on them, and promote the first domain.

My theory was that the secondary, keyword-rich domains might perform better in search engines.

I wanted all the indexes to kind of look the same (text different for each keyword) so that when users clicked on a button or link, they went straight to the primary domain, but the user experience was seamless.

This is not any kind of affiliate program, marketing thing, or a scam - just a real service looking to outperform others who buy domains but don't really offer the service in question.

Oh, and none of the sites would have any advertising on them.

    Good idea, or no?

Thanks in advance. By the way, I love the whole digital point site.

    Correct, sitetutor

However, you could do it your way but the other sites need to have different content, if you want to use them, and that takes time - I don't think the time will warrant the results using your correct assumptions that you make about secondary domains.

True, if the intention is to create more content.

Hey, thanks very much for the help!!

I think I will take your advice, and just focus on the original, site, optimizing it as best as I can. Maintaining the others would probably just take too much time, as you both suggested.

ow I'm off to read whether or not there is a good submission service, or whether I should just do it all manually. (It's been a couple of years since I've launched a new site, and it seems everything changes.)

Thanks again for the help, very much appreciated! :)

People do not tend to submit sites any more. They just get a link on a page that gets spidered regularly. After 10 posts here you can put a link in your signature file.

thanks smyrl! :) that's good to know. I guess, like I said, things have changed a bit.

I'm working right now on getting links in directories, and such, hoping that will help too, but all this help is greatly appreciated. There's obviously a lot to know, and this forum is so fascinating to me that I actually have to limit my time here. lol.

    Thanks again! :)
