Using multiple drop shippers??

How do you handle it with an online store?

I would like to offer a range of products, but I can't find a drop shipper that offers all I want to carry, so I would have to use a few different drop shippers. How do you deal with the shipping costs of an order that must be filled by many different shippers? Do you make the mark-up so high that you can afford to take the hit in shipping fees? I don't think a customer will place an order if their total is $75 + $30 in shipping.

    Later,

You have to mark it up, so that if a customer orders from 2 of them, it is absorbed. You usually tend to make less overall that way, but its the only fair way to do it.

The best way to handle it, is to have dropshippers where the products do not really overlap. That way, the chances of having orders like that is far less. For me, I use 3 dropshippers in addition to stuff I stock myself, virtually no product overlap and I get maybe 1-3% of orders with multiple dropshippers.

    Thanks for the quick response.

But unfortunatly, the overlapping is what I thought I was wanting to do.

Example...A camping supply store. (camping is not nessecarily my store idea, just an example for now)
tents, sleeping bags, and backpacks come from shipper "A", Boots and clothing come from shipper "B", Binoculars, GPS, and gear come from shipper "C".

I was wanting to offer the full range of products in the niche topic, but I can't find shipper that offers the full range. Even for things like hobby or electronics the shippers only offer a few things and other shippers offer other things that would help me to fill out the product offerings.

Now for marking up to absorb the costs, what kind of % do you add to your normal mark ups? Like maybe add 2% to the mark up just to cover the possible higher shipping costs?

    Thanks,
    Rob
