A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I was heading to a bridal show, and that the bridal show was going to feature a runway show by La Perla - the lingerie company.

I finally got around to picking which pictures were publishable, editing them, and putting up a photo gallery.

These pictures are all nice and clean, but I don't think I would consider them "safe for work" since they feature models in lingerie.

Enjoy. and please let me know what you think of the ad placement. And also, please let me know if there are any problems.

The crowd at the show was actually pretty big. I had to take the pictures from behind 7 rows of people and standing on a chair at the back of the hall - a good 40 or 50 feet from the nearest side of the runway. Fortunately, I bought a new camera with a crazy zoom lense. Unfortunately, I haven't been that involved in photography in years and the lighting was very tricky and obviously flash photography from that far away is extremely difficult. Still, I'm happy with the results - especially with this being my first runway show photo shoot.

There are a couple of other galleries up right now -
This one features the twelve million dollar dress that I mentioned earlier.

This one features wedding dresses by Renee Strauss -

I have two other galleries with wedding cakes and wedding flowers coming up soon as well.

One other comment I'd like to make is how crazy the zoom is on the camera - I got a Nikon D50 with a 80-300mm lense (in addition to the one it came with). From at least 50 feet away, you can make out the label "La Perla" in this under-undergarment:

The psd files turned out to be around 35 megabytes, so you end up doing a lot more work to get the pictures web ready, but the quality is amazing.

Some really nice shots you took there. Seems like a very professional work.

I am not really sure about the ad placement though. Its in a very weird spot. Maybe you could place the ads at top or bottom of the image. Current placement is not going very good with design.

Thanks. I originally wanted it aligned with the photo, but I thought it being off just a bit dragged your eyes to it. If you select the "Narrow" style, it displays the ads over the photo because the width in an 800x600 view requires it.

If you are using firefox, you may have to refresh or go to another page to see the ad properly after you change styles. For some reason, firefox seems to cache the old placement and make it a little screwy, but it's only for the one page view when you switch.

The style changer is on the menu at the left - there are three styles - Wide (1280), Normal (1024), and Narrow (800). I came up with the code to shift the ads around a while ago, but it really came in handy here.

We'll see how it plays out - unless more people say the current placement sucks. I just thought that a banner above the picture would help to induce ad blindness.

I checked the style changer, in 800x600 resolution ads looks perfect, that was what i was saying earlier. I was earlier viewing it on 1280x1024 resolution.

I think you should make the same placement in 1280x1024 or in 1024x760 as it is in 800x600. Wait for some more suggestions and then change.

    Please forgive me...

I'm bumping this because these galleries are the result of two weeks of work and I really would like some more feedback.

I called up the event planner who invited me to take photos at a preview event and then at the actual show itself.

I was a little worried about obtaining releases from the models, but my research tells me that it was not necessary for a variety of reasons - although in practicality, if asked I would take down the images, release form or not.

The experience opened my eyes to a wide variety of places that I can obtain great pictures and content for my site in the future - from local vendor resources to industry contacts that I made when I attended.
