    Just a few questions, and you do not have to answer these. The questions are mainly food for thought.

    What kind of forum do you plan on setting up? It is going to be a professional business forum, or a little something for friends and family?

    How much growth do you really expect? Not how much you want, or would like to have - how much growth can you "really" expect?

    If this is going to be a business type of forum, do you expect to sell paid memberships?

    Can you afford the VBulletin license?

    How much tech support do you need?

    ===============================================

    If you are going to be setting up a real commercial website, with paid memberships - Vbulletin is your only option. VB has built in features for premium memberships, such as payment processing, email notification, and automatic changing of usergroups.

    If you want to set up a forum for your family, friends or some type of non-professional site then smf and phpbb are ok options.

    Support
    - VBulletin support is superior to smf and phpbb combined. And why is that? Because VB has real employees who get paid to answer your questions. These are not people who volunteer their time to the forum, they are real tech support employees. If you are new to forums and need "real" support, then go with VB.

    If you feel like begging for support, go with phpbb or smf.

    :)

    if your starting a warez site it doesn't really matter what script you steal, it's going to be lame either way ;)

    I use phpBB from long time ago, and I recommend phpBB 3.

    However I always read good things about SMF.

    Both are free.

    Dang it, I missed the warez part.

    If you are putting together a warez forum, go with phpbb2 - because it is the most secure forum software ever built.

    :cool:
