I remember watching a news article years back about how NZ exports huge numbers of (battery) eggs to California because the local eggs are such crap. They had footpath interviews with people in some of the cafes that bought them and all.

If you think cows are dumb, what are farmers if they can't even produce decent eggs?

I'm guessing that it's really because California buys more organic/quality foods than other states, and local farmers just can't keep up with production. Factory farming is just too prevalent in the US and they're reluctant to improve the quality of food because most people want cheap, cheap, cheap. Californians love their food, and most people I know are willing to pay more to get the best stuff. If you go to other states it's a different story.

    LOL
Okay...I had to go check my eggs! :p

They're organic eggs from Judy's Family Farm in Petaluma, CA.

I don't recall seeing NZ eggs, but of course you can always find NZ lamb. :)

    >> Vegetarians are a joke, they can eat all they want that excludes meat, but at the end of the day, they are still made of meat. And I'm told in a jamb, they taste pretty good too!

cows, goats, horses, monkeys are a joke too

Do vegetarians wear leather and things made from Animals?

Where do they get their main source of protein from if they don't eat meat?

    I think vegetables are hilarious.

I mean, have you really ever stared for 10-15 minutes at a mushroom? or a radish? or a bean? or spinach? or, funniest of all, bean sprouts? those things look like little spermatocytes...

Those things crack me up... after the first 5 minutes, I'm rolling on the floor, begging for relief, and hollering to the beer wench to bring me another ale and a burger...

    >> the fact that without meat eaters, none of these animals would ever have a life at all

do not forget that their animal life is not given by those meat eaters.
men just do their "terrible" task to put them in tiny factory farms and feed them all kinds of junks and injections.

Yeah, amoung many other things they use that require the death of an animal.

WooHoo, at least us meat eaters are conservationists. If we run something over , we cook it!

You're right, cows aren't "dumb". At least not the ones we had. "Baby" was a yearling steer we hand raised and he was gentle enough to hop on his back and ride around. Was fun while it lasted! Eventually the day came and he had to fulfill his purpose in life. (yeah...I wimped out and hid when the gun was fired). Did he ever taste good though! :p His mamma, Bell, used to come when you called her name and she knew her milking schedule better than the milker.

Growing up we had many milkers, steers, breeders ect...none of them were dumb. Cows are just happy doing what they do. Mostly eating. :)

Word of advice? Never name your future steaks and burgers...it makes the killing harder. :(

So what do vegetarians suggest we should do with cows, let them go to roam free as the majestic kings of the plains they are?

    Vegetarians need to wake up.

If cows had their way they’d be eating us.

yeah! It's a crazy old world when we have to eat or be eaten!

    lol@kings of the plains....

Moderation in all things is my belief. I wouldn't give up my fruits, veggies and salads anymore than I would my steak, chicken, pork or fish. :)

I don't understand why ppl become vegetarians. I've heard many different reasons for it and quite frankly, none of those reasons were ever good enough to convince me. I'm only on this earth for a short time and as far as I know I only get one go around...I'm going to enjoy it. ;)

people are vegetarians for many reasons....and they don't need to convince others for their actions. they have free will just like meat eaters do....to each their own :)

I think omnivores have more interesting hyms in their services than do herbivores...

With herbivores, it's "Michael rowed the boat ashore" this, and "Puff the magic dragon" that... with omnicores, it's "Enter Sandman" and "Born to be wild"...

heh heh... one of the biggest hell raising bikers I've ever known was a vegetarian... I've had to pull him off a fox huntsman before now (I know, I shouldn't have bothered, but he was too nice a guy to go down for it)... scared shitless of spiders too

That's also typical of herbivores... terrified of spiders, ladybugs, moths...

Omnivores and carnivores, on the other hand, just eat the damn things... ever watch a cat or dog? :D

I have to confess I'm not real crazy about leeches and jellyfish, though
