Very low CTR. Help me improve it

    Hi,

I have a very low CTR even though I use the largest ad units available for Google adsense.
I have 2 large ad blocks, 1 link unit, 1 search box. And yet I get a very low CTR. Typically, less than 1%.
Can you suggest ways to improve my CTR.
For your info, you can look at this page: http://www.project4hire.com/website-design-freelance-jobs.html to get an idea of my ad placements.

    Thanks

try to get the ads more in your content area your ads are in typical places so people know to avoid them try different placement maybe try and adlink before your listings. (how much traffic do you get) Also since it is mainly webmasters visiting the site i find most webmasters click less.

Even though you have put the largest ad units, the best performing ad units are usually the large rectangle ones. Again as xboxundone has mentioned the ads fall in the blind area for signt visitors - so you are getting a low CTR. Try experimenting with the colors and also put the ads in the content in the detail pages. That should help improve your CTR. :)

Put ads under the first topic.

Colors are not good....must be similar to content and as iwm said...the visitor cannot view all the adds...

    1) Remove the 728x90 ad at the top and replace with nice header.
    2) Place 728x90 ad just below this line.
    3) Do not use blue color, change the color to red.

What do you mean? The colors are similar to the background colors.

In my opinion, you're focusing on ad placement and colors when that is not the reason for your low CTR.

You site visitors come to post projects, which they can easily do. In other words, you site completely satisfies your visitors - they have little or no desire to click on ads if they believe your site will help them get a contractor.

Contractor visitors come to view and bid on projects, which they can easily do. Your site meets their needs - they have little or no desire to click on ads unless they are looking for additional job sources.

In summary, site visitors must have a *reason* to click on ads. Regardless of placement and colors, they must be curious enough or desire something more/different than your site offers, to have a reason to click.
