As promised, I wrote a blog post about HOW to get to page one of DIGG and WHY it's important. The last time I was on the home page of DIGG, I got over a MILLION hits in 4 hours. that was double the traffic I got from Slashdot.org!
    its at: http://znitchit.blogspot.com/2006/11/digg-howto-get-on-top.html

    I enjoyed your article! ;)

How many times were you able to land yourself on the main page?

I would also like to know how many times you landed on the homepage. I can't even do it once.

The most diggs I have ever got was about 30 - 40 over a 1 month period. lol

    What's your definition of 'hits'?

Have 99 images and the index and you got...a measly 10,000 uniques.

I've tried to get one of my articles on the index page ONCE...and got to the index page and got arouns 1,500 duggs. aka...a 100% succeess rate and got around 36,000 uniques! :D

And that's from just one page, the page dugg.

How long did it take for your article to accumulate all those diggs?

I was going to say then Nintendo, don't you get any traffic. But then I know realise it is for the one page and not the entire site.

Got on digg's front page a few times. Got around 10,000 each time. But in all reality it's not worth it. Just wasted my bandwidth. Most of the people didn't click on my ads. Had a CTR that day of under 1% the site normally gets 7-10%.

I think that's probably due to the fact that a good chunk of Digg users are tech savvy and can easily distinguish ads from real content?

I submited the page in the afternoon. That evening I found my server down. I rushed over to Digg...oh my...I'm on the index page!! I better re-start apache. And then I kept SSH/top open just in case it crashed again, which it didn't.

The first day the image with stats shows visitors is the day I submited it.

The log for that one page is massivly HUGE, 7.6 Megs!!!

Well I had been on index page yesterday itself and the most important thing here is i didnt submit my story!!!! I submitted my story to reddit and before i could do the same on DIgg It was already submitted.
Within couple of hours I was having hundreds of visitors and i thought it was my day. But the real surprise was after 5 hours when I suddely checked the statcounter which showed 10000 uniques. By the end of Yesterday I got 30000 uniques and its till now I have recieved another 15000 uniques that brings to 45000 unquies in span of 1 day and 10 hours. Total no of diggs : 1551 and counting ( it has slipped from top position to 8th position on all popular). Its among top in Del.icio.us and other similar sites.
Sad thing is the Ad revenue is lowest compared to the hits but i dont care for it right now if such traffic contiues to flow to my site as i am bound to get more revenue from repeat/regular visitors.
One question I wanted to ask is after the traffic rush once it is over what is the back to normal traffic ??? Has it increased substancially???

The page I have been recieving traffic to : http://www.nonstopmasti.be/?p=76

My image up there is a nice example of what happens. They look...and then go back to Digg and never think of the site again, hince the very low CTR.

Sorry The image was not uploaded when i wrote that piece. I see it now. Still hope someone diggs in every interesting article of mine and i continue recieving that traffic :).
I had never expected this much traffic before, my previous highest no of visits per day was 400 and avg around 90-100 and I was dancing . Now after seeing such a potential I wonder If I can maintain even 10 % of this. Since my site is still on top 10 i expect atleast 50% more traffic today.
    One more thing:
I am allowing my visitors to comment their Views both good and bad so that they could return back and interact here.
Lets see what happens from tommorow.
    Regards,

The last time I submitted one of my own article to Reddit, I instantly got over 300+ page impressions.

Google Adsense Team sent me an email to warn me that they have detected that invalid impressions have been generated on the Google ads of my site.

I have never submitted my own article since. Any of you encounter this before?

The Best thing about the whole digging is I have recieved great amount of backlinks from sites all over the world. I mean i would have spent $10-20 for such amount of backlinks but here it is done free.

Digg/reddit etc is worth because of the number of backlinks you receive not for income.

Whoa! That log is a LOG, like from a giant sequoia! :D

Usually if I notice a huge spike in traffic, I try to notify the AdSense team before they have a chance to notify me.

Well, if the traffic doesn't seem to convert, I guess that's what it's all about.
