Virus that replaces adsense and other ads with 'malicious' ads

Has anyone been affected by this? Have you lost money?

Also, who does this actually affect? If I know that I placed a 160x600 image ad on my site and realize that it's not actually an adsense ad (or other companies that i use), is this only affecting me, or will all of my visitors see this ad?

I first noticed this when I knew that I did *not* have an adsense unit on my site-it was a static image for an affiliate program. But, an ad for another company popped up. So, despite what others have claimed about these viruses only targeting adsense, it's not correct.

How could you know it's a virus? How could you detect the virus?

Never heard of it before, sounds interesting though. Not sure how it would work, because wouldn't it need FTP access?

How did I know it was a virus? Well, I had an affiliate ad image on my site. It was a trustworthy affiliate -Real.com I believe. The image was static. However, one day, it was a totally different image for a different company. I remembered this happening a few times before a few months before that so I Googled it and confirmed that AdSense had acknowledge this problem.
