I've herd that Macs are IMMUNE to the viruses that plague my P.C.

    Is this true?

    And if it is

Why on earth isn't Apple shouting it from the Rooftops?

All the E-Mail virus senders make viruses for Windows since they make up some where around 95% of the internet users. Were not 100% proof, but I can open those E-Mail viruses and look at them! For example that LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU file a few years ago.

Nintendo is right. MACs are not immune to viruses. Linux is not immune either. 95% of computer users are using PCs and the overwhelming majority of that 95% is using Windows, not Linux. So, to target the largest audience possible, virus writers will write viruses for PCs using Windows. If/when the day comes that more people are using Linux instead of Windows, you will probably see more and more viruses targeting Linux. Virus writers want to get the most amount of people so they write viruses with that in mind.
