Want To Disable Facebook Comments

Discussion in 'Social Networks' started by dinrock, Feb 24, 2013.

Don't want people commenting on my page. How to disable comments? I now go to my page. In upper right corner is:
    #1. My name
    #2. "Home"
    #3. icon showing lock
    #4. icon showing gear wheel.
In gear wheel I drop down to "Privay Settings". When that page opens, there are ONLY 2 options.

#1. Who can see my stuff
#2. Who can look me up

Really, Facebook needs to make a simpler, easier to navigate and easier to find set of settings. Where do I specifically navigate on my FB page, in order to TURN OFF / DISALLOW comments on my page?
    Thanks

Navigate to your page and click on this drop-down - http://i.imgur.com/W6FW0nb.png

You will see all settings in there.

Hi Sagar: I cannot click that link....it isn't a hyperlink. I can definitely open my FB page and navigate around it...but to actually find the setting where I can manually disable the "comments" is beyond me. FB has changed immensely....and in a somewhat difficult way. Any assistance appreciated.

Dinrock, go to your FB page, when you can see all the admin stuff (which you can actually hide if you want to). Here go to 'Edit page' - this is what is shown on the pic above. Then go to 'Manage Permissions' - choose this from the left navigation. Here you can see some interesting settings, what you need here is 'Posting Ability'. Check out the checkboxes and done.

Zsofi: Here is my question: WHERE do I find that? On the actual VERY VERY RIGHT side of Facebook page, there is my NAME + "home" + lock picture and that gear picture.....which of those do I click on? Or, do I go to LEFT side of page in that farthest column to the left and there is my name and EDIT PROFILE....do I click somewhere there? Yes, I can see all the admin stuff, that is what I mentioned, correct? If so, what or where am I to click?

This is a different stuff than where you see your name + Home, etc.

When you go to your FB page, you should see the Admin panel. In the admin panel you have these info: Notifications, messages, new likes, insights, etc. On the top of this panel on the right side (below where you see your name and the other settings) there is 'Edit page'. I might have missed one part here - when you click on this, it will drop down. Click on 'Update info', this is the first in the list.
Then it will take you to an admin surface where you can see only the settings elements. On the left side you'll see the navigation, starting with Your settings, manage permissions, etc. The second element here is 'Manage permissions', this is what you will need. I cannot explain this any clearer, sorry.

See file of my facebook page and show me where the Admin panel is. This is what I was referring to. Where to actually navigate to, then click on the link or icon, then when the next page opens, what to do. As you will see, there are links at top on LEFT....and at top on RIGHT. So in essence, I am at a loss as to what is the Admin panel. Any assistance is appreciated. Also, sorry this shot is crappy...it's the only file size DP allows....wish they'd allow a larger file size to show detail up close.

This is your News feed on the image, not your Facebook page. A facebook page looks like your own profile page, but people can like it instead of adding as a friend.
Where exactly you want to disable commenting? On your FB page it's not going to work, I think, under Privacy you can find many settings, but you can only limit the visibility of your posts, I don't think commenting is an option.

I recall some time ago when you could block people from commenting on your FaceBook page. I mean, the one with my timeline photo at the top. So basically, we can no longer block people from writing anything on our wall?

I think cover photos cannot be even hidden from anyone, it's totally public :( You can set the visibility of the photos, and of course your posts too - one by one if you like, but I don't think you can block people from commenting totally - basically FB is for communication...

I am not sure if you are talking about Facebook page or Facebbok individual profile:
To block anyone from posting on your profile wall:
    1. Click[IMG]in the upper-right corner of any page and select Settings
    2. In the left column, click Timeline and Tagging
    3. Find the setting Who can post on your Timeline? and click Edit to the far right
    4. Select Only Mef rom the dropdown menu
Note: Your friends will still be able to comment on any post they can see (ex: a photo you share on your Timeline that includes them in the audience).

For Facebbok page you can moderate and ban people, based on certain keyword or what they post. For more info follow below link:

    Hope this help.
