WARNING: My terrible experience with Speedy_J

On July 24th I created a thread at "Service" section looking for a webmaster of a charity-related site, the thread is at https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/looking-for-a-webmaster-of-a-charity-related-site.2670451/.

Speedy_J then contacted me via PM, he listed his plan and asked for a $100 payment, I was trusted by his sincere and detailed schedule. One of our conversations is

I trusted him and paid him on July 27th, in order to save his cost, I even transfered the $100 via "send a friend" so he did not have to pay the transaction fee (this is the most regretable step I took as I can not solve a dispute on Paypal).

However, till August 11th I had got nothing from him, then I sent him an email as "Over a week passed I have not got anything from you, please do your job accordingly, thanks, mate." Still no reply, then I created a conversation on DP on August 17th, "please reply my email, otherwise I will have to think this is a fault trade and leave a negative itrader here." Luckily on August 19th he replied saying he ignored my email and it is better to use PM, in addition, he would send a report to me soon.

Until today (August 28th) I still have not got anything from him, meanwhile I sent him twice asking specifically a report letting me know what he has done for this project, he simply ignored my email and PM.

So I paid $100 gaining nothing, I understand it is my fault that I didn't use the marketplace on DP and paid him on paypal as friend, I learned a lesson.

Never trust a man you know little on internet, I know it is kind of arbitrary, this is also the first time I experienced so terribly.

It is a warning, stay away from Speedy_J!

 

I'll be sure to stay away from him/her long term. I hate to see you get scammed like that.

 

I'm not taking sides here as I don't know his side of the story. But I am curious as to why you chose to pay him this way?

 

whenever someone paid me fee via paypal I will be charged by a small percentage of cost, so I thought he was trustful and paying via "send a friend" would not incur a cost to him. Yes, now I regret, a better way is to pay as a service and add the cost to $100 if I want someone to receive exactly $100.
