water marking images

I've always used Adobe Photo Shop for my images, but with Adobe you can't freely add water marks to your images, you have to register first.

Can anyone recommend some software (wich is free to download) wich is easy to add water marks to your images?

do you want to add water mark in batch or not.

if you only want to add water mark one by one manually, try Photobie software and create a watemark png file for your self, then make it a brush, just brush it through where you want the water marks to go.

With photoshop you can watermark without registered (you want to add a thin transparent logo/text above a photograph correct?). You can easily do so by creating a layer above the photograph, typing out the text (or placing the logo there) and changing the opacity (check the layer's window for this) to 50% (or lower, if you want the watermark to be lighter).

correct, the digital watermarking is not free with PS but like everyone else said, you can add text as a separate layer and also include the C info. in the exif (file) information.
