    I've not had good luck with affiliates. Specifically CJ.com. none of the advertisers have approved my applications. do they look for sites of a specific size?

    You really need a website if you want to sign up for Commission Junction. They'll also check if your site is relevant to the products you want to promote. They have other criteria such as the amount of traffic to your site, country location, etc.

    You could register to other affiliate networks that aren't quite so stringent. Try ClickBank or ShareASale if you don't get accepted in Commission Junction.

    Clickbank has a lot of programs that offer high commissions because they sell digital products. It is very easy to sign up to and use, so if you're a newbie, this is a particularly good network to start with. They also have a very good customer support system.

    ShareASale is very easy to use and they provide exceptional customer service. They have also won a number of awards for the way they run their business.

    Have you tried entering design contests at dedicated contest sites like http://www.designcontest.com/, among others? Even if you don't win, they expose your work to potential clients.

    Direct advertising. I find websites that have my targeted audience and buy banner or link ads on them.

    Its depend on what niche your business is in.

    My business is 99% depend on the word of mouth from my client.

    I only spend few thousand on the marketing.
