    Hi,
My website is built using Joomla. What can be the best option for Webhosting with joomla and SQL backend installed?
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask. I am new to web hosting. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Hello there,

I would say that 99.9% of web hosts would be able to support Joomla as PHP and MySQL are standards in most cases for all hosts.

    Regards,
    Chris

Correct, Joomla is a pretty standard application and if you are not adding any resource-hogging plugins it can run easily on any shared host, including ours. A good host however will go beyond the standard services and offer you additional perks like free transfer of your Joomla website, tutorials and related articles, support that is knowledgeable in Joomla and can further advise you. I would suggest you to check the forums Offer sections as a source of reputable names (best would be specific forums like WebHostingTalk for example). When you have a shortlist of hosts that fit your budget and requirements make sure to check their Live Chat before signing up, ask some questions and see the level of assistance you will be getting. If they also provide a moneyback guarantee you are practically trying risk-free ;)

    Hi Baseless,

I've been using quixxo.com, which comes with joomla, wordpress, SQL and other apps installed and offers free support for all of them. I think they have a money-back guarantee as well.

It's reasonably priced, but not free. You might find a free hosting service that offers what you need if you'll be low-traffic (at least at first). Check a few out and see what works for you.

Joomla was once the leader of CMS's, back in the days when WordPress was still considered "just a blogging platform" and were still making their baby steps towards building up as a CMS solution. Right now, I think Joomla is still among the Top 3 most popular content management systems and it is still considered a pretty nice script.

As I mentioned, it is a little more resource-demanding and a little less user-friendly than WordPress but it has its perks. Might be a little more complex for beginners, but once you get a hang of it, you can be sure that it will do whatever you like ;)

Weebly and Wix are sitebuilding tools aimed mostly for users who want something visually nice and very easy to operate. While quite convenient they limit you in the freedoms you would normally receive with a normal CMS. And building your website on those platforms would mean that you are tied with them as you cannot really host Wix/Weebly sites with whatever host you choose.

From my personal experience I can say that most of the hosting providers will be able to support Joomla. So you have no need to worry about it. The main thing is that you have to find out the best option for you. I suggest you to do some research to get the best option for you. You may get some help from here http://www.hostingreviewbox.com/hosting-reviews/. You will find complete comparison among different hosting providers.
