Webmaster's lack of inspiration

This is my problem at the moment. What do you (other webmasters) do when nothing good seems to be coming out of your head for a new project?..

 

Looking around the internet and see what's missing. Look around the town and might pop up something

 

Oh, don't get me wrong: I got the project.. it's the design I'm having troubles creating. I always do my designs for websites, I don't like premade scripts and CMSs. But today nothing nice came out.. Oh well.. I'll keep trying, got no other choice really..

 

Take a look at some magazines and pay careful attention to the colors, layout, etc. This always inspires me.

If that doesn't work, take a nice walk and get some fresh air.

 

It one hour past midnight here.. Brrr..

 

Open a nice bottle of red. Always works for me!

 

Oh, right, I got some dunno.. blackberry drink.. Let's check it out.. I'm pretty sure it won't guarantee any results though..

 

Just let if low man. Like, you know, in the glass. Try to visualise the red going into the glass and then swivel it around. Hmmmm...makes me want one right now!

 

That's my good deed for today...

 

Ok, hold on, I got an idea, but it's about another project... Wrong drink maybe?! Darn!...

 

Maybe you should be drinking Cab Sauv instead of the cheap Claret??

 

I actually never (ok, RARELY) drink alcohol. I stick with coke and natural juices. I bet that's the cause of my lack of inspiration.

 

I think i have too much inspiration and not enough coding skills. I come up with quite a few ideas almost every day but i cant put them into code. The last time i hired a coder he ended up stealing my idea...

 

Mate, stay off the coke. I know celeb's smoke it and snort it. But it won't work at all!

 

Sorry to hear that. Learn coding. It helps a lot!.. That is until a lack of inspiration hits you

Hmm, I guess if you go to some good web site designers portfolios and take a look around, that'll get the creative juices flowing. Could also try media-rich template sites like www.boxedart.com

 

Ok, lack of inspiration seems to have gone away, I'm quite happy with the way things go.. Can't wait to release the website now.. Still lotsa work to do though..

 

I was in the same position as you recently and i don't know what the hell was wrong but sometimes inspiration just gets stuck and the more your concentrating on it the more it gets stuck.

I went cycling for a half hour and continued to do other stuff later on. Then started browsing the net and then all of a sudden i got an idea and worked from there.

Now i have more ideas how to make the site i am working on better but i myself as well have no good coding skills.
Problem is with me everytime i start to explore coding tutorials i get frustrated because...

A: Every answer gives me a question that i can not get answered in a short amount of time.
B: I just don't understand the explanations of how what and why. The answer looks like if they skipped three steps and forget about the former three and it's supposed to be intended for a novice.
C: For example i want to have some functions on a site i have in mind but have no clue where to start to explore how i can make it on my own.

layout design is something i like to do and how i would like the site to work. problem is the coding to make it possible.
I always ask the question ''Why'' when i read through a tutorial and if can't find enough answers for my why's then i get frustrated and move on.
