Weekly Newspaper template / CMS combo

I am working on getting a print spanish weekly newspaper online with a website.

    I found a template http://www.templatetuning.com/show.php?t_number=7776

and I wanted to use wordpress as the back end.

    1. Will word press be a good back end system to use. I have some wordpress sites they look very similiar, how customized can I get it to look? Would I be about to make it look like the template above?

    2. Is there another CMS system more geared to an online newspaper that I could easily add the template above as a front end?

I still have to tweak the template however for the most part it's what I want as far as design is concerned.

    Thanks

Yeah, I agree, for a newspaper I would use Joomla or Drupal, not wordpress.

Wordpress is geared more for blogs and drupal or joomla will give you more flexibility which you need for a newspaper.

Yes Joomla! is the way to go with this one. It will take some customization and additional coding but it shouldnt be hard at all...

I would ask what do you want to do with the system? All the systems have leanrning curve for end-users but WP has the smallest one I've seen to date and I've been using most of the major CMSs for the past 6 years.

I've used this Joomla component for a couple of newspaper/magazine sites and it's worked well:
