I've seen several good posts already with predictions for 2006 in the world of search engine optimization and internet.

    http://www.stuntdubl.com/2005/12/27/seo-2006/
    http://battellemedia.com/archives/002149.php

    some of them...

1.viral link attraction - “under the radar” text link purchase
    2.user generated content
    3.bashing pagerank
    4.on-page naturalization
    5.”non-seo” links
    6.trusted links
    7.content with links exchange
    8.geovertical targeting
    9.community reviewed content
10.url rewriting for user appearance and viral distribution

If you find other interesting links post them here

I don't have many predictions for 2006, but I seriously doubt Google will bash pagerank. I don't understand how or why they would do that. If I get my site to a PR 5,6, or 7, and then Google suddenly "bashes" pagerank, I and a bunch of other webmasters are going to be pissed.

Not even remotely funny... even though theres a bunch of big-players out there who's going to suffer sooooo much harder than me if it happened.

It's a scary scenaria. For democracy, for free Capitalism. Period.

Make it go away Andrea.. please...:p

    My predications are,
Virus activities will hamper our joy and will lead to misunderstanding between users and internet (WWW).

MSN and Yahoo will launch full fledged programs competing with adsense.

And so, Google will pay me a million dollars to keep displaying adsense :D

    My predictions:

    1) AJAX/rich media product-specific ad units (something better than Chitika).

    2) More Niche Search Engines/applications, possibly even using Google's data.

    3) Not a lot of headway by MSN in 2006, maybe '07-'08.

    4) Yahoo re-vamping the Overture interface.

    5) Google announcing some kind of distributed computing applications available to the public. (possibly productivity software -- for example, instead of using Microsoft Word, you could use a Google Word AJAX style application, or Google Spreadsheet).

    6) Increased convergence of Mobile Telephone and regular Internet services.

    7) Some public prosecutions of more spyware or email spammers.

    8) A click-fraud expose that has a negative impact on Google's stock.

Yes, I agree -- a lot more video. Maybe even a service similar to Rhapsody or Napster but for Video.
