You need to be actively promoting the site all the time. Make sure that you also update your site often with original content. You may need to invest some money to advertise on related niche sites and/or adwords. Depending on the niche, it could cost a lot or a little but most times you do need to spend money to earn money.

I made the site to create revenue, so ive never actually tried paying for clicks to the site, i guess im just scared to make an investment into something that has only paid me back $18 over the past year.

^ agreed, also do you test your ads, do you use the ad filter to eliminate MFA sites from advertising in your sites, they pay nothing so why let them on your site? There are many things to consider when you want to make money with adsense. I personally don't ever advertise my sites to make money with adsense but I guess it depends on your type in traffic whether that is necessary or not. Payout also depends on your topic in general, some niches don't pay very high no matter how good the site and filters are set up.

I believe there is no such thing as a free lunch. You need to spend on advertising and promotion before you can think of generating any revenue.. If you are getting good traffic and still fail to properly monetize your site then we would be interested in the URL to see what you are doing wrong. Good Luck :)

You can try looking at similar sites that get good traffic and try requesting a link exchange. You may not be successful with the exchange, but it doesn't hurt to try. Always remember to personalize your exchange request, never send out mass emails.

Promote the site. Submit it to directories/ezines/social bookmarking sites. Do SEO for the Site. (You site has just 86 backlinks)

First thing you are posting articles from other article directories which normally dont convert into any earnings thru adsense. Try to add fresh contents and I hope you will get eranings.

That is a small drop in the bucket. Unfortunately, you have a site that is similar to most likely thousands of other sites on the net. If you are not willing to invest to promote it, your site will just sit there and collect an occasional click here and there. You need to promote as much as possible and work on increasing both your back links and your traffic.

Basically it is like putting a store in the middle of a forest and not advertising it. You may get an occasionally hiker but you will not get anyone who is really looking for your type of store. You have to invest to make and if you do and you get some original articles on your site, you will start to see an increase in both traffic and earnings.

Yeah, ive started adding some of my own content in there, and users are slowly submiting their own articles(most likely they are going to submit their content to a billion other places too), but the whole idea behind the website content it is to increase the value of the links that people add to the directory, if i were posting to directories i would rather post below a article than just a bunch of other links...
I dont know is this a good idea to continue with the website or just bag it
