What antivirus did you install?

    I know there's lots antivirus on the internet like AVG, Karspersky, malwarebytes. Some are free. But I am confused which one is the best one for my laptap. My system is win 7 64bt. One of my friends recommended me a smart software Anvi Smart Defender. But I only find its beta version. Can help?

    if you know about the Linux then use that OS its virus free, but for windows presently MSE(Microsoft Security Essential ) is good.

    I recommend AVAST. I have used it for 4 yrs now and it has served me very well. Plus it does not use a lot of memory.

    For years I used NOD32 and now I use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free >http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials

    MSE is not a resource hog which is important for me and it does a good job of identifying viruses. I also use Malwarebytes for Mal-ware and Spyware. Most virus scan protections do not protect you from these type of infections and it runs flawlessly without any conflicts with my Virus scan protection. http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

    and to further protect myself from Spyware, I use Superantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

    All three of them do not have conflicts with each other and they are all free. Please be careful when downloading any of these type of protections without completely removing your existing Virus scan protections to prevent any conflicts that can make your computer unusable. Some Spyware removers are horrible and can Highjack your operating system including stay away from Spysweeper. Them knuckleheads at Best Buy will actually install Spysweeper on a brand new computer that they sell to you from their store. Beware of that if you buy one from them. lol.

    I went for years not running any resident AV, and just used ClamAV to scan anything I wasn't sure about. It worked for me.
    I'm currently using Avast (free) on Win7 x64. And running AVG on my older PCs. I don't run any AV on my netbook or laptop.
    The best thing you can do to protect your system is to take regular images of your (healthy) system drive, and regular (daily) backups of your data.
