What Are Some Good Business Books?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by Scott Botkins, Sep 5, 2006.

What are some good business books to help someone like me (age 20) as I get ready to head into my 2nd year of running a business. I'm looking for business and self-improvement books such as motivation and things like that.

Micheal Gerber's The E-Myth and the E-Myth revisited are must reads for the online entrepreneur.

They have noting to do with SEO, Search Engines, or online business, but they do build a fundamental base for anyone who doesn't know the difference between being self-employed and being an entrepreneur. (Yes there is a major difference)

I highly recommend "Rules for Revolutionaries" by Guy Kawasaki. He was the chief evangelist for Apple. The book has great chapters like "Don't worry, be crappy" and "Churn, baby, churn" (summary of the two: get going and improve, improve, improve).

I also recommend Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki (and also Rich Dad, Poor Dad 2: the cashflow quadrant). Even though the stories are most likely fictional, the lessons are invaluable. (business books)

Seth Godin's Purple Cow is another quite good one. (marketing, differentation)

Then there's 'Getting Everything You Can Out of All You've Got' by Jay Abrahama (book filled with information about marketing - and very practical for operating a business)

Propably the single best self-improvement book I've read is 'Awaken the Giant Within' by Anthony Robbins. Again this book has some stories that makes you think like 'I gotta attend to this guy's seminar and pay $$$ so that I would be successful' but I personally think the book alone is very worth the price. Haven't attended the seminars, so can't personally tell. Oh, and after reading this book I bought Unlimited Power (by Robbins) and I think it wasn't as good as this book - so I don't recommend buying the older book, with Awaken the Giant you'll be fine (self-improvement)

    Rich Dad, Poor Dad
    The Monk and The Riddle
