    Facebook, twitter , squidoo, my space, etc.
    You tube and video promotions
    Forum postings on traffic websites.(needs to be expert in this as it requires great writing and knowledge skills)

    Hmm well other than ads, the best tactic is to really create a big trend for your product that will get online users really interested on your product. It will not only give you traffic but also good conversions if you are able to make that tactic very effective - though it is quite hard to do that since a lot of ideas are already coming out of the box.

    Traffic is what you should target on.

    To get the most traffic, make your account the highest exposure by making lots of friends with your accounts. When you create posts or share something, make sure they have good keywords in the title, tags, and content for SEO purpose. Many social media sites has high PR, so it is possible for your post to appear in the top of search engine, if the keywords are of low competition.

    Well it depends on your use..If you are using social networking sites for fun than make friends and enjoy but if you are using it for promotion or other purpose than start sharing your links there in Facebook, twitter , squidoo, my space, etc...
