What CMS should I use? Need a CMS + Reviews / Ratings Plugin

    Hey all,

So I have an idea to start a website that allows users to rate the food at different colleges.

Currently I'm trying to figure out which CMS will best suit my needs.

I already run a Wordpress powered site, so I'm very familiar with that platform.

I've installed Joomla 1.5 in my dev environment, and have setup SOBI2 business directory, but I'm not sure if I like it or not.

I basically want to have categories setup by state, then followed by the names of each school/college. Once the user clicks on the school name, the following page should contain user reviews, and a star rating system.

From what I've found, it seems like I will need some sort of 3rd party plugin, regardless of which CMS I use.

After using Wordpress for my current 3 sites, I've found that I really like the interface and usability factor.

I've never run a Joomla site before, but I'm certainly up for trying it out. Any reccomendations on a CMS / review plugin would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

WP is great. It should be sufficient for you. For rating try WP-Postratings.

Joomla is more advanced than WP in my opinion, but not so SEO friendly. But you can try it together with joomsuite extensions. Their Joomsuite Resources component must do this job perfectly.

Maybe stick on what you now well: WP. It can be more time effective to modify something you already know.

You can do Drupal with voting API, CCK, five star ratings, and views modules. Works well and costs you nothing but the time to learn and implement!

It depends on what you want to do with your site. How many pages, visitors? Any future plans for expansions. If you want a good, secure, fast & seofriendly platform i would also recommend Drupal. With the Modules named by einsteinsobi plus some SEO-related Modules it should be no great problem to build a site like you want. But the learning curve ist steeper than for Joomla or Wordpress. But you also gain more flexibility with Drupal.

Another option is to go directly for a review site CMS for an instant setup without all the unwanted extras.
