Well here's an original cure for back pain. My old wrinkly mother has had back pain since tripping out the toilet in a bar and landing badly (bless her, the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree).

So, at 67, the old coot has taken up horse-riding. She loves it (Don't think the horse is enjoying himself too much) and swears her back pain is slowly easing.
