What do you think about "menu-like" placement?

Have a look at this site:

    Playstation News

I'm trying a new AdSense layout. I just have the lilttle text unit at the top. I decided to focus on relevant Playstation Chitika ads for the rest of the site. Anyhow I saw this on another site, and I wanted some opinions. When I saw it on another site, it looked a bit like a menu at first, so I found myself looking at it when looking for links. It's a bit deceptive I think, but I don't think it's outside the guidelines. I'm not asking anyone to click on it, and I don't have big red arrows pointing at them or anything.

What do you think? Is that ok? If so, do you think it will work?

    Thanks,
    Gary

It will work great, at least for me... I've added it to one of my websites, great revenue. Not very nice if you want to make your website an authority one.

What you need now is traffic, lots of it...

Yeah, I don't necessarily need to be an authority. Traffic would be good though. :)

I've been posting to the official playstation.com forums. Those people click like mad, hopefully they click on ads too. Now I need search engine traffic.

I like the layout, very nice! And about the link unit, I think the placement is smart but you have to see how many people will hit the back button after they notice they accidently hit the wrong link...

Yeah I'm a little concerned about the whole conversion tracking thing that google does. Apparently if your clicks result in low conversion ratios, they give you less per click across the board.
