What happened to the large rectangle ad???

Hi,

Every Large Rectangle ad (336x280) is now showing only 2 ads. Now I know it's possible on some occasions to have only 2 ads, but I've never seen this happen to EVERY rectangle on my site.

So what's up, has Google changed something I don't know about?
I also noticed the added text "Advertise on this site". What's up with that?

Maybe this was a change that already took place few weeks ago, but since I have adsense blocked in my host file on my computer I might not have noticed it.

 

We've covered this topic over and over and over -- please read through the recent threads in the past day!

Google offers fewer ads when those ads are the highest paying. Would you rather have 4 ads that pay 3 cents a piece of 2 ads that pay 25 cents a piece?

 

I was wondering the same, (since I was new) but I figured it out on my own by doing keyword searches. But thanks for the input dada!

 

Anyway, I already found the answer before you replied (geez, didn't notice those dumb sub forums), but one question still remains: what's up with the text "Advertise on this site"?

I don't believe in ads switching from 3 to 25 cents, when did you have that dream?
Actually with this nonsense I see my income going down, instead of up, even with a stable average of page impressions. That proves again that it's not always a matter of 1+1=2!

 

Awesome. I hope you didn't take my reply as mean, those subforums are a bit annoying, but they keep the clutter down!

I don't like the big ad units for your reason as well -- you lose the ability to "blend." For many AdSense users, though, they have common enough content that AdSense can give them a consistent 4 ads. My content is so niche that I rarely can get more than 3 or 4 ads total on the page (using 3 ad units per TOS).
