it really depends on what the goal of your site is..

Joomla, Wordpress, & Mambo can all be good, but some are better for certain things.

I highly recommend Joomla (http://www.joomla.org). I used PHPNuke before
and it got hacked into twice. I switched to Mambo then Joomla and things have
been good since. I also find Joomla more intuitive and user friendly.

    Hi

I have experienced MAMBO a lot and developed my sites with Mambo till recently. I love Mambo. Joomla is actually having the same code base as Mambo. Mambo is GPL License but still there are some components owned by Miro Software of Australia. People who developed Mambo veered away from Miro to create Joomla. So I find lot of similarities between Mambo and Joomla and both are good

I'd recommend drupal. It has an easier admin interface than mambo/joomla.

Yeah Drupal is light, fast and easy, but only if you can live without the eye candy ;)

Just that Joomla offers better skinning capablity, But one thing i like about drupal is its 100% w3c valid coding. :) May be some day, when I register seo-guru.co.in , that would be on drupal ;)

That would easily be portable to drupal. I think you meant: "the downloadable themes for joomla are better than drupal's". Which might be true, but anything (visually) possible in joomla is also possible in drupal. So someone with good design skills can easily make a great custom theme. :)

No I don't believe it's possible to use a joomla theme in drupal without modification. However, it wouldn't be difficult to port a Joomla theme to drupal (or vice-versa), though, especially if using phptemplate theme engine (drupal has several different theme engines to choose from). After all, it's just CSS, images, html and some PHP. :)

Good luck in learning php, mate.

I'm now stick to Joomla after browsing all others ..

    PHP-Nuke - too many errors
Drupal : I find the interface looks so simple
Mambo : I'm not yet ready
    Evo : too early

opensourcecms.com provides me all the way to test every cms, I find that Joomla is easy, when looking at the admin panel, for the 1st time u might think too many too configure, but once explore, I feel so easy .. :)

Do you count Wordpress as CMS? I started my personal blog on Wordpress then built some other sites in Mambo/Joomla. Then switched all sites to Wordpress.
I found Joomla offered too much and it confused me.

Maybe I should have taken more time to get to know it, but I just find Wordpress so easy to work with and to hack.

Joomla is good though. Just not for me.

As Wordpress is for blogs, similiarly Joomla is for portals :)
and the best part is that by using Marco's JD-Wordpress plugin in Joomla you can have all of the Wordpress in Joomla even the backend, dashboard etc, and you dont have to use different themes, it autofits into your current Joomla theme:). Its really amazing.
